As you all know I’m a huge fan of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. These powerful programs have been a passion of mine for many years now. I haven’t had any mentionable classes in either, I’ve learned what I know today mostly from watching podcasts, tutorials of all kinds and reading some books. After ten years of teaching myself how to use these programs I’ve gotten some favorite teachers and sources. In this article I am sharing these with you so that you too can enjoy these great teachers/artists in action. Enjoy!
These guys are Scott Kelby, Matt Kloskowski and Dave Cross. All three very talented professionals. Every week they give us a new show in the Photoshop User TV podcast series, and it’s all free! There are also chances to win great prices for those who want
If you haven’t seen any of the shows yet, you have really missed out on something. The awesome thing is that all the shows are available as podcasts and there are over 220 episodes out there. All free with a lot of cool stuff on Photoshop, Lightroom, Photography and more. Right now they are having a break until April because of Photoshop World but 220+ episodes should keep you busy until they’re back, right?
This is a fairly new show featuring one of the Photoshop Guys, Dave Cross. In this series he answers questions that people have asked him about Photoshop. A great addition to the shows over at Kelby TV and I’ve already learned some great new tricks from here
The Layers TV podcast featuring the two very skilled and great guys Corey Barker and R.C. Concepsion is another one of my absolute favorites to watch. They have now over 120 available episodes that teaches tips and tricks for all of the Adobe Creative Suite programs. Not only that, but the Layers Magazine website has tons and tons of tutorials and articles available for you, all free of charge.
Berth Monroy is by far my biggest Photoshop idol of all times. The guy is just pure awesome. He can recreate anything in this world using Photoshop and his artworks are so realistic that it can sometimes be hard to tell them apart from reality. His podcast over at Revision 3 has been very inspiring to follow and I recommend it to everyone that are interested. There are 160 great episodes of this podcast that ended in Januray after a whole 4 years. If you are interested in more from Bert Monroy he can be found over at Lynda.com and of course you can see his awesome work over at his own website.
This podcast series featuring Matt Kloskowski (again one of the Photoshop Guys) is a great way of learning new tips and tricks on a regular basis without having to spend a lot of time doing so. The episodes are short but right to the point, and you’ll be guaranteed to learn a thing or two that you didn’t know from before!
Tons of episodes available.
Over at YouTube you can find tons and tons of Photoshop and Illustrator tutorials. Many of them are very good aswell so you should definitely try searching for them over there. To help you a bit on the way, here are some of my favorite channels:
Tutvid – this is a great channel for Photoshop tutorials and also some Flash, Dreamweaver and Illustrator.
Photoshop Mama – mostly picture retouch tutorials, excellent quality.
Iceflow Studios – 199 great tutorials on Photoshop.
This is a paid service. For $24,95 a month you get unlimited access from their growin database of great courses on Photoshop, Illustrator, Photography and much more. There are also a couple of really good WordPress classes in there. In my opinion well worth the money if you want some high quality courses from pros includind Scott Kelby, Dave Cross, Bert Monroy, RC Concepcion, Corey Barker, Matt Kloskowski and many more. High quality and easy to access. If you’re a NAPP member you get a discount.
Same price as the Kelbytraining version and very similar in many ways aswell. It has many more courses though, over 750 at the moment. Here you can find not only Photoshop and Illustrator related courses but courses related to very many different kinds of software. Some examples are; 3DS Max, AIR, Windows, Drupal, iMovie, Microsoft Office, Openoffice. There are so many options in here that its absolutely overwhelming, which in this case is a good thing. Well worth the money aswell!
Bless you for taking the time to post this. I understand where you are coming from on this post however , It is my opinion there are much better possibilities.
I love watching the photoshop guys teaching, I have their complete season., but there’s too much distraction in their videos. Too many jokes, commercials, and their technique is quite boring to me. However, they are very usefull for beginer.
Btw, I think you forget to mention Deke mc Clelland. He’s awesome. 2x better than Kelby.
Hey and thanks for the comment.
Yeah Deke is great too, agree with you. Ive watched some of his tutorials aswell but probably should watch more too.
Another new supplement, I really could not have said it greater by myself.
An excellent write-up with correct points, We have been a lurker right here for a short time but desire to become much more included in the foreseeable future.
